In 1598 Cornelis van der Voort mentions that he has been living in Amsterdam for 12 years (Saur 2022); his art shop was located in the corner house next to the current Rembrandt House in the Jodenbreestraat; after his death his house was taken over by Hendrick Uylenburgh, the art dealer with whom Rembrandt moved in with in 1631.

Cornelis van der Voort was a Flemish artist who settled in the Dutch Republic once his hometown of Antwerp fell captive to the Spanish in 1585.
